Physical Therapists -- APTA Question...? PTs, PTAs, clear something up for me... APTA (American Physical Therapy Association) Do you pronounce it Apta (like a word) or do you say A-P-T-A (spell it out)?
Do all physical therapists have to have a DPT degree now? I really wanted to be a physical therapist and graduate with masters. But my parents found out from the internet that all PTs will now HAVE to graduate with a doctorate degree in order to be a Physical therapist. I want to know from fellow students studying the field now or real PTs if this is true. I looked at the American Physical Therapy Association website but mostly described what is DPT, the different types of degrees, and the advantages. I'm concerned because I heard DPT have to mostly work on desks and deal with writing medical reports. I don't want to change my career option because of a misunderstanding. Can anyone set me straight? Thanks.

Did anyone read this crazy article about video game injuries? THURSDAY, Dec. 28 (HealthDay News) -- For those children who got new video games and systems this Christmas, parents need to make sure their youngsters don't suffer hand and thumb injuries caused by overuse of those games, the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) says. Here's the full article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/hsn/20061228/hl_hsn/videogameinjuriesaholidayhazard This is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard. I played video games daily for 23 years, and I have none of the problems they are talking about. When are people going to stop being so over protective of this country's children?
Was acceptance of gay people by the american psychiatric association based on science or guilt and activism? Now before anyone rushes to saying bigot! or hate speech! please know that I love gay people and not in some weird way influenced by Judeo-Christian values which hides the real idea that I think they all somehow all need to be made straight in order to avoid perdition. No I really do love gay people. In fact, I tried to be gay myself a few times. I had a boyfriend and everything and we lived together while we attended college. We shared the rent had lots of friends and threw some amazing parties. However it didn't last and as much as I desired to have a relationship with well, anyone really(and yes I've had several girlfriends as well to which I lost my ability to be with intimately after doing so the night before which was based on a physical response despite the fact that I really did have a strong desire to keep them in my life and maintain a relationship) I simply did not have an attraction to them on a physical level. Through a great deal of therapy, hormone treatment, trips to the urologist etc...I have become aware of my orientation. I am a ephebasexual(hey if the gays can change the word homophile into homosexual then why can't we change words in ways that benefit us) which means that I like girls of a certain age which varies but for me most often hovers around the age of 16(which is legal in many U.S. States provided that the proper respect and paper work are completed along with responsible informing of the parents and receiving their consent). Here is my argument...according to what I've read the American Psychiatric Association came to their decision to remove homosexuals off their list of mental disorders based on guilt due to society's treatment of those who were in the gay treatment of those in the gay community and the brave activists who stood up to them and refused to allow themselves to be told they were mentally defective for who they found attractive. With this in mind I believe it is only a matter of time before people with my attraction gain more acceptance from society because yes while it may be legal in many states and countries there are a whole of people out there who love to just throw the word pedophile around as if it applied to me when really it refers to people who are attracted to either much younger girls or much younger boys depending on where you get your information. Also, to many people the word pedophile is equal to the word child abuser even though only 5% of those in the pedophile community ever have a sexual encounter of any kind with someone whom most of society would refer to as a child. I am asking this question in reference to people wanting to know if some aspects of minor-attracted relationships(which the apa lists under pedophilia) will ever be accepted and thus removed from the dsm. If anyone would take the time to read these details you would realize I am not hateful but I have attempted to be in gay/straight relationships for my entire life and have undergone therapy, hormone treatment and meetings with urologists only to discover that, based on what my attraction is I am an ephebasexual and with regards to what I'm into it is 16 year old girls(which is actually legal in many states when the proper procedures are followed). To the younger people...do not be mislead. Guilt is a powerful motivator as is public opinion. Regardless of why the APA made their decision I support. Those people in the world with my attraction now have an answer for those who say that science will never support and those who are transgendered also have a powerful argument.

Persuasive speech on animals help!! please!!? How should i fnish this speech? I am writing a persuasive speech on how a nursing home should allow the elderly to each have a pet. What should the next main points be? It has to be in monroes motvated sequence form. Help please!!!10 points for best answer!!! This is the format it has to be in 1. the attention step 2. the need step 3. the satisfaction step 4. the visualization step 5. the action step Did you know that 94% of pet owners say their animal pal makes them smile more than once a day (American Pet Product Manufacturers Association, May, 2005)? Or that studies show that people with pets live longer, have less stress, and fewer health problems? Animal therapy is a form of alternative medicine that is used a lot today to cure such sickness like depression. It is found to help divert a person’s attention from daily problems. The responsibility to care for a pet takes a lot from a person also, it gives you something healthy to do while at the same time occupying your time. Studies that these same studies can be applied with the elderly, they have shown that having a pet can be good for both the mental and physical health of the elderly. This is why to give pets to the elderly would help residents to become less lonely and happier which are things that the elderly common suffer from in nursing homes. II. Need for animals in the facility a.Residents in the nursing homes may feel lonely , and sad. If each resident had their own dog or cat, they would feel less lonely. b.There is no one there that actually can keep them company. The only time when they are not alone is if they have visitors. But really how often can someone come visit them? c.Most residents’ families only visit them on special holidays, such as Mothers day, or Thanksgiving. Some residents families never visit, they may only call. (Katie Colbrum, Dec. 5, 2009) III.Choosing the right pet for the residents a.Each resident should pick the kind of animal the wish to have in their room, so they feel at ease. b.A local animal shelter, or some kind of organization with pets will come to the nursing home, and let the residents bond with the animal they most like. And this is where i got lost and couldnt think of anything
