occupational therapy assistants???? i've searched the salary of a occupational therapist and a occupational therapy assistant....but researching on the internet doesn't always mean....that's the salary the average therapist or assistant make. i know from experience cause of the career i have now. you search one thing and you hear this and when you are actually living it...you don't nearly get paid as much as you thought! i was wondering if anyone knows or is an certified occupational therapy assistant and knows exactly how much they really do make??
Occupational therapy or physical therapy? I have considered both occupational therapy and physical therapy (Master's in OT, or PTA) I know both can be rewarding careers, but I don't know which is right for me. I am going to try to shadow both sometime in the near future. Any advantages or disadvantages to either profession (salary, stress, schedules, etc)? I know getting my Master's in OT would take longer and probably be more demanding (I have my Bachelors in a related field, though) but is it worth it in the long run? I'm not concerned with the prestige of having a masters vs. downgrading to an associates. I just want to be happy with my work.
Occupational Therapy Question? I am considering switching majors to occupational therapy from Biology. I was just wondering if anyone can give me some advice on whether this is a good career. Like anything about the nature of the job, how rewarding or fun it is... I also would like to know more about the benefits and salary. I live in Maryland so if I graduate with a degree in OT would I start of with say 50,000 (I don't know that's why I am asking) and continually gain a higher salary as I continue to gain experience?

Occupational Therapy Career or Social Worker? I am in my early 40s. I am interested in becoming either an occupational therapist or a social worker probably focusing on children. Is there a difference in salary for nuclear med techs with a certificate, AAS, and BS? I want to get a BS from Jefferson or UMDNJ (I live in southern NJ). I already have a BS in psychobiology and soon will have an MS in occupational therapy, so the degree itself is not important, unless it really affects salary. I'm sure you see I want to be an NMT, not an OT. But I owe the government $70,000 for those other useless degrees.
Which degree do I need to be a Certified Occupational Therpist Assistant? I am very interested in either a occupational therapy assistant or occupational therapist, although the ladder requires a masters degree. Does the COTA require just an associates? If so, what is the degree called? What salary can be expected for both these careers?? Thanks
optometry vs occupational therapy? what do you think? im currently attending city college of sf right now and im trying to figure out what i want to do since i have only about a year left before i need to transfer. im stuck between optometry and occupational therapy. i've been interested in optometry since 8th grade, im 19 now, and occupational therapy is a recent interest. i just wanted to know what are the pros and cons of both, which is more in demand (i know OT is in demand but is optometry?), what are the programs like (im considering dominican, berkeley, usf), salary rates, anything important and small that can help me make a decision. im currently volunteering at the VA hospital in OT and i might transfer over to optometry in a while to see what i like. what do you think?
Occupational Therapy verses Certified Hand Therapist? I am still trying to decide between becoming an Occupational Therapist or working directly in a Hand Therapy clinic for 5 years and then becoming a Certified Hand Therapist. I know that you have to work a minimum of 5 years in a Hand Clinic and have at least 4-5,000 hours in order to take the exam, however, I was wondering advice on this? Is it worth it to practice for 5 years and then take the exam for a CHT for pay salary or does it not matter if I just work as a OT in a hand clinic because I have met some OTs that are not CHTs but work in the hand clinic. : ) Thanks!
Does it matter what kind of school you go to for Occupational therapy? I got into a program for Occupational therapy but the rating for the school isn’t that good actually it is not even on the list. It is a private school so I would be paying a lot for my education as well as I don’t want to be in debt when I get out. I am just worried since OT is completive, would it be hard for me to get a job because there are others who came from a better know school. Or can I even start out with a nice salary? Help!!!!
Speech Pathology vs. Occupational Therapy Programs? I'm have a hard time deciding between the two. Which one would pay more? Be easier to find a position with a hospital? Which one has the highest starting salary? Which one is easier to advance in? Any answers would be well appreciated. FYI: I've checked all the career websites, looking for some info from some one who personally knows.
What is the salary of a pediatric therapist? I know there are different branches of therapy. Physical/Occupational/Speech. Is it possible for me to be all three? And get a job qualified/working as all of them? And as for the speech end of it.. I was going to go for English and Spanish both. Is all of this possible? And what would my salary be if I worked as all 3? Or if I can only work as one, which would be my best bet?
Occupational Therapy and Physical therapy? So I've researched these a bit and I'm confused. What's the difference? Also, which one requires more schooling & has more salary? And which one is more rewarding?
Double Major in Speech Pathology & Occupational Therapy?? This is not something that I am sure I want to do, just something I am thinking about. I know that Speech Language Pathologists & Occupational Therapists work together in a lot of cases. If I were to double major, and get my masters in both, what do you think my salary would be like? Could I get a job where I worked in both fields, since they seem to come hand in hand? Plus, how difficult would it be for me to do this schooling wise? What exactly would it entail? All information you can provide is greatly appreciated! Thank you! Since the fields are related, I think (not sure though) that there may be some classes that overlap for the majors. If I did have degrees in both fields, would my salary be increased by a lot? Speech Pathology is my main interest (although OT does interest me as well), so if my salary wouldn't be increased by a decent amount, I'll probably just stick with going into Speech Language Pathology.
Occupational Therapy vs. Clinical Massage Therapist vs. Physical Therapist? Whats the difference between the three? Salaries? Length of school programs and training?
Occupational Therapy vs. Buisness major....help!? Could I get some opinions on which I would be better off to major in? In the business area I'd like communications or marketing. I'm really interested in both fields of OT and business but I can't decide! 1. Which would I be better off with in the long run? 2. Which would make better salary? 3. Which would be easier to find a job with right after college? Any other advice would be greatly appreciated!

Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist? Could someone compare the differences between occupational therapy and physical therapy. What are the differences in work schedules, education, salary, etc. Do both require you to be physically strong? What if I'm skittish about blood and needles?
what is the difference between an occupational therapist and a physical therapist? im interested in physical therapy but i was wondering what the difference between those two were? and also what the job intails, the salary, ect.
Is Occupation Therapy a good career choice? I have decided to go ahead and get my BS in health sciences & then go into the Master's program at my university for occupational therapy, which in total will take me exactly 3 years to complete the BS AND Masters degree. I have always wanted to do something in the medical field and have gone back and forth between PT and OT. I decided to go with OT though. I do have a few questions though: What is the starting salary for an OT in Tennessee? I've researched it on salary.com and sites like that, but it seems like a broad range. Also i've heard people talk down about the OT career, that they don't really do anything that is helpful? Like the patients never really see any improvement? Is the job stressful? Is it a lot of physical/hands on work? (I know there are COTA's and thought they carried out a lot of the lesson plans provided by the OT) Hopefully someone can answer all or some of these answers, and give any other helpful information about this career!!

Is there any place in CA that really need Occupational Therapists that they'll pay them at least 80,000/yr? I just graduated from OT school and was wondering if there is any place in CA that really needs an OT that they'd be willing to pay them at least 80,000 a year for a new grad like me. After finding a job, I will be going back to school part time to get my OTD (occupational therapy doctorate). Any input or advice would be great. If you know of places outside of CA that pay high salary to OT's, please let me know too. THank you
what are the different jobs in therapy? i need a detailed synop of the different therapy jobs. physical vs occupational vs recreational. job availabilities, salaries, how long school is for each, and anything else. thanks
traveling occupational therapists? ot? i will graduate with a masters in occupational therapy in 2 years. i am very curious to know, from a first hand perspective, about the travel opportunities that are available. i have heard that starting salaries are generally much higher than standard regular fulltime employees of hosp., clinics, etc... is this true? what pay could i expect? also, is your housing payed for by the staffing company? is it decent?! this could be an opportunity, if all is true, to save 30-40k per year, while earning 65k+. any info or experience would help, thanks...
Career Advice...if you would...pretty please...? I already graduated from undergrad majoring in biology... I am thinking of becoming a pharmacist (4 years) or an occupational therapist (2 years) I could also get a doctorates in occupational therapy (4 years)... I can't find annual salary for someone who is a Dr in occupational therapy...and to be honest I am thinking of what career will be lucrative and make me satisfied... I was interested in occupational therapy but figure if I am going to make around $50,000 yr that isn't worth it, so now I am thinking of becoming pharmacist ( $85,000+ yr) I might go after pharmacy school and just get my masters to be an occupational therapist if it's not for me but I don't know if I would be happy with pharmacy but I know that I won't be happy with the salary of an occupational therapist...why go to collee to make $50,000 a year....I don't want a mistake on my end make the wrong medicine colaboration hurt someone...please tell me something. Thank You
What is your occupation? I'm starting to look into what occupation i might want to go in the near future. I have been considering Photojournalism, journalism, and occupational therapy, and i know that there is such a broad range of jobs out there that i have never even heard of, that i would love to learn more about so please if you would list; Occupation and what does it involve: Yearly Salary: Hours worked weekly: Pros: Cons: Education Requirements: Would you recommend this job to anyone? Thank you in advance!
Geography Professor or Health Care Professional? I am a recent college grad at a crossroads since I do not know which career to choose. I am undecided between: Geography Professor - I love geography! But sometimes interest doesn't always mean career. Professorships are difficult to find. Registered Nurse - Best job security and good salary. I am scared of needles! Occupational Therapist - I get to be creative with my therapies as it can adapt to any life situation. Blends elements of health care with rehabilitation. As you can tell, I am most interested in health care and education. What draws me to both fields is that it is very student/patient centered, and caring and innovation in my career is something I value. I am anxious about the teaching careers as salaries are not as high as the health care professions, however I feel that I am more interested in social sciences subjects. It's not that I'm uninterested in health sciences, as I have a wide array of interests. I would like a profession that would guarantee me a high salary, job security, as well as respectability. (I know this sounds like a dream job, but I believe it is doable). As of right now, I am leaning towards the fields of Geography and Occupational Therapy.
Is getting a doctrate in occupational therapy worth the time and effort? Im interested in studying occupational therapy and am wondering whether getting a doctorate in occupational therapy is worth the effort? How much will it increase my salary? how will my job responsibilities and tasks differ? Would love to hear the opinions of practicing OT'S Thanks :)
Have you heard about Promesse? I was told by a friend that a company known as Promesse offer health care positions in the Arabian Gulf, for a great salary. I was wondering if anybody has worked with them and can provide me with some information. I am looking at working in Occupational Therapy (currently in uni). I was wondering what sort of work there is, what sort of a period you are locked in for and what sort of an annual salary one can expect. I am considweing working in the United Arab Emirates. Any help would be appreciated. With thanks
Help!! I think I've chosen wrong profession...? I have always been interested in social work, even though I have had great reservations about the career (because it is difficult to make a good salary, doesn't get much respect and case loads are too high, etc.). However, my mother really encouraged me to do it and I'm now halfway through an MSW (Master's) program. However, the more I think about it, the more I'm realizing that I will *not* be happy with the salary I will be making. I know that you don't go into this profession "for the money," but while I don't want to be rich I want to be adequately compensated for my education and skills and I don't believe I will be. What do I do now?? If I drop out, I will save loads of money (loans) but won't have anything to show for it. If I stay, I will have a Master's degree, but what can I do with an MSW if I don't want to be a social worker? I'm lost and don't know what to do. I have also considered doing occupational therapy, but that would require another Master's...Help!
Army ranking question- Please respond? I am thinking of going back to school for my masters in occupational therapy. I would love to be an occupational therapist and really help others live the best lives possible. I would also like to serve my country while doing so. What can be better than helping people live better lives, especially those who are serving our country. Anyway, I am wondering what the ranking of a registered occupational therapist would be in the Army. I would be a part of the Medical Specialist Corps, but do not know if this an officer position. Can someone tell me about ranking, salary, and any possible student loan repayment that may be available to me for this position in the army??? Thanks alot
School psychologist or a degree in special education? I'm getting ready to apply to grad schools but am unsure of what I want to focus on. My B.S. is in Human Development and Family Studies with a focus on childhood. I am interested in working with children that have special needs but I do NOT want to be a teacher. I prefer one to one or small groups. I also like the idea of coming up with behavior/treatment plans for the children to focus on their needs. Therapist positions or Early Intervention appeal to me (not so much physical or occupational therapy. More on the behavioral/developmental side of things.) And although it's not my top priority, salary is a concern of mine. What Master's degree would be most beneficial?

How in the HELL do I pay for Grad School? So I am applying to some private schools for next fall, I have ruled out applying to public schools due to the fact that most of them require the GRE, which I did poorly on. (I hate math, and standardized testing)I am just blown away by how much Grad school is. I am 28 years old and really have 0 dollars. I am a personal trainer and lifeguard and my entire salary goes to rent and living expenses. Is it possible to borrow 70,000 dollars for student loans?? It looks as if that is what my education is going to cost me. By the way I am going into Occupational Therapy. Any advice?? Thanks
Moving to melbourne :) Wondering about cost...? Hey! I'm moving to Melbourne next year and can not wait!! I'm moving from the US and I know cost of living and salaries are very different. The goverment takes out a lot more taxes in Australia. So I was wondering how much I need to make to live over there. I'm a new grad with my masters in Occupational Therapy. Does anyone know how much an occupational therapist makes down under? It's about 60grand here. And just in general cost of living a month. I'm single, no kids, just supporting myself and going to be paying back school loans. Thanks for your help :)

Any Occupational Therapy Aide/Assitant out there? I want to become a OTA, but I cant find a school near me to do it, I saw that Penn Foster online school offers OT Aide degree but I'm not sure about it. I know they don't make as much as assistant's and I'm nervous about getting a degree online. Does anyone have experience with this and how did you get your degree, how long did it take? Whats the average salary? I'm a stay at home mom of 2 children and my husband will be deployed in a couple months so going to a campus right now isn't an option. Once he gets home it will be, but finding a school in a small town to get a degree in what I want is turning out to be harder then I thought. Any help/info you have would be great, I'm lost!
Occupational Therapy?? I am planning on going into an occupational therapy program in college and I have some questions... First, is it true that obtaining a PhD in OT is not worth it?? Second, I want to focus on more mental OT and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with that or knows the differences.... and then I was just wondering any OT's personal experiences or feelings about OT. I am located in Southern CA and I think that the opportunities here are really increasing and I was wondering if that was true. Also, if anyone knows the salary differences for the different fields. Thanks so much.
Can anyone help me answer some questions about occupational therapy? How many years of college would i need to become an occupational therapist? What degrees do I need? What is the monthly salary for the career of a recent graduate? (This is for a middle school project =])
Occupational Therapy or Nursing? Both courses I passed the entrance exam and I am now in their interview stage. I don't know what to choose from these two course, I both like it. If Occupational Therapy, I'll take care of autistic patients, the pay is per hour, and it is less work but above average salary, or Nursing which is in demand in abroad, but more work. I am from the Philippines and nurses here are pitiful. But Nursing is the easiest way to go abroad. Is OT also in demand in abroad? What course should I take up, Occupational Therapy or Nursing?
Should I take out a loan to finish school, and if so, how much? I have completed 1 year of pre-reqs for an occupational therpists masters program, with grants along the way. however, i did not need to work during that year, and now i do. i have 1 year of pre-reqs left, with 2 years of the actual program after that. i have rent, utilities, car payment, insurance, credit card debt and gas and food expenses. meaning, i cannot go to school fulltime and not have an income to meet these bills. therefore, i am considering getting a loan that would cover not only my schooling for the next 3 years, but also my living expenses for those years. this should total just less than $50,000 for those 3 years. after that, i will have my masters in occupational therapy with a starting salary of around $60,000 a year. anyone, please give helpful advice and your honest opinion--- is this a smart idea? will i most likely not be able to afford the payments after school? (when i finish school, i will need apartment/house, car, etc...) i just do not want to get in over my head, and pay for it later.... thanks anyone else tired of these spammers...
