Tennis elbow exercise ?s? When Im doing the specific strengthening exercises how do I distinguish between good muscle soreness and over use. How many exercises along with reps and sets should i do? Should I only ice/arm band when its hurting or is there some type of healing that goes on that i should do/leave it on all the time. thanx What about complete rest(meaning not doing anything that agravates it) until the pain goes away. Then I start with the elbow excercises, or can i do all at once. Isn't the cream just a temp solution?
I have bad tennis elbow,Should I quit exercising my arms? Will exercising make it worse ? I love to work-out.
What type of exercise(s) can I do for my tennis elbow to strengthen it? I've had tennis elbow for a month now. If it doesn't get better the doc is suggesting physical therapy. What can I do at home now to help ease the pain and become stronger in that area? I am now wearing the band on my forearm.
Can anyone help me with my tennis elbow problem? I have a pain in my elbow, I'm pretty sure it's a condition called tennis elbow. I saw my doctor at my check-up and told him about it. He asked if I was icing it and I said "yes." He didn't really say anything else about it. I had this problem twice in the past but it didn't last long both times. This time it seems like it's here to stay. Does anyone know any exercises or anything that will help it heal without me decreasing my physical activity? I've already looked in Wikipedia and read over that page. Thanks a lot.
How do I get rid of Tennis Elbow? My elbow has been hurting for about a year now. My symptoms indicate tennis elbow, but I don't play tennis. I do work on the computer daily. It is very bothersome and hurts to bend it or lift objects that are not that heavy. I bought a tennis elbow brace that sits right below my elbow but it doesn't help much. How can I get rid of this? I was diagnosed with Tennis Elbow two months ago. the sports medicine doctor told me some exercises, which improved my TE by 70%. He gave me a steriod injection in the elbow around a month ago. I feel that taking the injection shot was not a good decision, since the TE has not healed completely. Should I go for Ruta Grav in these circumstances?

Any information regarding lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) treatments? I have been suffering from "tennis elbow" in my right elbow (I am right handed) for the past 14 months. I also have lupus and my rheumatologist has been treating me at my routine visits for the elbow as well. He gave me hand outs of exercises & stretches to do which I have done faithfully and prescribed Mobic for inflammation. He has also done cortisone injections on 3 different occasions. The first injection provided excellent relief for 6 months. The next injection lasted 4 1/2 months and this last one never did provide any relief at all. He didn't want to do anymore injections, referred me to physical therapy, and scheduled an appt. with an orthopaedic dr. I have been going to physical therapy 3 times a week for the past month. They are doing ultrasound for 10 mins, then stretches, tendon excercises, iontophoresis for 25 mins, then ice for 10 mins. After therapy the pain is about 50% better that day but by the next day it is back just as before. I have noticed progressive weakness in my right arm and hand over the past year from me not being able to use it like before. It is extremely painful, tender, and lifting only the slightest of weight sends the pain radiating down to my hand. I am a stay at home mom and do not participate in sports. Of course they say to stop doing the activity that is causing the injury. I don't do any repetitive type activites they I am aware of (other than normal housework, etc). My appt. with the ortho dr. is in 2 more weeks and I was just wondering what anyone with experience with this problem think my next step would be. The handouts that I have list: 1. Rest, 2. Ice, 3. Anti Inflammatories, 4. Physical Therapy, 5. Cortisone Injections, 6. As final resort: Surgery. I was hoping to avoid the surgery but I'm afraid we have already tried every other treatment without results. I didn't know how long the problem would need to persist before surgery would be considered. Also, for anyone that has had surgery : was it beneficial and provide relief and also how long of a recovery period is required, and how difficult was the recovery. Thank you in advance for any info.
My Tennis Elbow Was Feeling Better Now My Wrist Feels A Little Numb? Since around Aug 19th I've had a sore elbow on and off from playing guitar. It was like tennis elbow or what ever you want to call it, but now it has felt a little better since using the handmaster plus and random hand exercises but the past two days I've had an itchy and slightly numb wrist on the back side of my hand. After having band practice again my elbow is hurting again though but can anyone explain the itchyness. I also got a small grease burn around that area around the same time too so maybe its infected my arm or something? It doesn't look infected or anything though so idk...
help with tennis elbow? i have had tennis elbow symptoms for nearly 6 months now, i went to the docs and had a shot (cortizone) and it went from bad to worse, the shot made my skin go really really thin and almost transparent. the pain has gotten worse and now is around the back of my elbow, in my bicep and down my wrist. the muscle above my elbow has completely gone and the pain is terrible. I have gone to a physio who has got me doing exercises to straighten it. although it hurts i do them, but the pain is even worse now aswell. i am on a surgeons waiting list but that has beena couple months itself! i dont know what else to do, im sick of my arm hurting. what exacally is wrong? and what else can i do? i got it from years of martial arts.. punching. if it has been 6 months and it hasnt healed, will it ever? im in soo much agony
I got tennis elbow 1 yr ago but it hasn't completely healed yet.help? Hey, I got tennis elbow 1 year ago(due to playing badminton excessively).I had to take ultrasound radiations, massages and had to wear a band on my arm which restricted movements.Thing is,I had it on my right elbow(I'm right-handed) and had to give numerous exams the month after that(writing was very painful but oh,well) - so I couldn't give it much rest and one year after I got it,it still acts up now and then on application of least pressure for more than a few minutes.Doc keeps saying I need to give it time and rest - time I have, rest I can't give(again,I have to write in classes and give tests/exams all the time).I'm more than worried now coz I'm really into sports and I need a strong right arm.Can any1 tell me abt some good exercises or therapies that can help strengthen my arm faster or atleast better? Thnx! healthier2morrow, u forgot to give ur email address
Does Anyone Suffer From Chronic Tennis Elbow and Golfers Elbow?? I have suffered from chronic tennis elbow and golfers elbow in both arms for almost a year. For some reason I am not healing. 5 cortisone shots did not work and now I am on percocets and oxy contins. They take the edge off but do not take the pain away. The mornings are a nightmare because I am so stiff and seized up that I am in instant tears. I feel alone and frustrated. This is a work related injury and workers compensation doesn't know what else to do with me. I was in physiotherapy for 8 months andwasn'tt even able to start strengthening exercises because Icouldn'tt straighten my arms. Workers compensation is now enrolling me in a pain management program. Has anyone ever been to one of these programs????I am 36 years old with two kids and my life is limited. Simple things like turning on the kitchen faucet in the morning is unbearable. Is anyone else dealing with this kind of situation???Please talk to me. I feel alone.
Anyone know where I can find good arm exercises? So, I've been a cashier for seven years and I get a really bad pain in my wrist and it goes into my shoulders. It's really bad. I wake up and I can barely move my arm. I have to prop myself up with my other arm. I've been to the doctor and he told me I have tennis elbow or something and gave me this little brace to wear on my forearm. I've used this to no avail. I am wondering, however, if I would be able to do some type of exercise to alieviate my pain.
I exercise daily for 1 to 1and 1/2 hours. Have for 5 years. Suddenly have tennis elbow and shin splints. Help? I don't want to stop, but even walking hurts. I don't know what to do, I don't want to lose the benefits that exercising has given me. I'm no where near a swimming pool so can't do that. Any suggestions on maintaining what I have worked so long to achieve
The best cure for Tennis Elbow?? I screwed up my elbow carrying something like 2 years ago. I should be doing nothing but resting it and the at home therapy exercises. It is impossible, even house choirs aggravate it, so I kinda gave up. then I built a room addition on the house like an idiot. I didn't get the help I was counting on. Now am paying the price. I know you shouldn't use your wrist and forearm too much, that is bad. I finished the work, and now I am typing a lot too much. I know I shouldn't but like to. I bought a wrist pad thing for the keyboard. that made my typing even slower. lol because of the height or something. I feel like putting a sling on my arm and screwing all choirs!! I can't even get a carpenter job because it will never get better. all the specialist say I do not need surgery, I had an MRI for Elbow specialist to see. and then he finally says, okay maybe a little exercise will help. and I feel this like bump/muscle when my arm is tight against my chest. other arm is normal, no bump.
what to do about tendonitis/tennis elbow caused by weightlifting? I have been lifting weights for upper body twice per week for about 2-3 years now, I lift heavy...most sets are 6-8 reps. Lately, I have had serious elbow pain, particularly when my arm is bent. Is there a way to fix this problem aside from stopping lifting altogether? Is there something about my workout routine in particular that caused my problem? Too much pushing or pulling movement? Should I mix up the routine? Or is it just overuse in general? Seems to flare up most during chest exercises. My routine is as follows, and has been the same for the entire 2-3 years that I've been lifting: Chest: 40 pushups to warm up Flat barbell bench press, 3 sets (one light warmup, two heavy) 15 degree incline dumbell press, 2 sets 30 degree incilne dumbell press, 2 sets 45 degree incline dumbell press, 2 sets Lats: Wide grip pull ups (palms facing out) to warm up Wide grip pull ups with added weight, 2 sets T-bar rows, 3 sets Bent dumbbell rows, 2 sets Shoulders: Side lateral raises, 3 sets Smith machine shoulder press, 3 sets Upright rows, 3 sets Shrugs, 2 sets I don't do any isolated arm exercises.
Can I pass physical at MEPS with a slight case of tennis elbow? I am going to the MEPS in about 10 days. I have a slightly aggravated tendon or ligament in my elbow that reduces my arm to about 15 degrees less than straight. I have been approved to go for all kinds of other injuries, ACL tears and ankle tears and breakage. I did not mention my elbow because it does not cause any problems. I can still do push ups and pull ups. I can still ride BMX damn well. I didn't even consider it until I read the descriptions of exercises done at MEPS. I can touch thumbs to shoulders, but when I extend arms out in front with palms up, one arm is a little off. Considering getting a cortisone shot before I go. Does it sound like I will be DQ'd for this?
Elbow tighten up during exersice? Whenever I exercise my elbows start tightening up and it becomes very hard to continue. Could this possibly be tennis elbow? What are ways I can warm up so it will work muscles not joints/tendons. Also could I have weak bones because I never drink milk? How often should we drink milk?
how to treat TENNIS ELBOW..? anyone have any advice on how to treat this or exercises that can be done to help relieve pain..
Will tendonitis/tennis elbow heal even while doing daily/light daily living? I am currently being treated at the chiropractor, using heat and massage and stretching exercises for the muscles, but I still feel the pulling lightly, but it is better than it first was. I want it to heal and I took a break from exercise or lifting or anything taht would involve pressure to that area, but I do have to work and do normal things like typing, writing, opening doors, etc. Will this heal as I do not want it to permanently be this way? Thanks! Also, how long does it take to heal fully? Is it unusual that I've had this about 3 weeks already?
Elbow muscle pain when exercising? I have this exercise machine where you lay on your back on a sliding mat. one end is levitated and one end is on the ground. on the levitated end there's 2 wires with handles on them. the object of it is to slide the mat up to the levitated end by pulling on the 2 handles. But there's one problem, after i do around 20 my right elbow muscle starts to hurt whenever i bend it. It feels like the muscle locks up then slowly goes back to normal. Its in the same area that tennis elbow pain occurs but i only get it when i bend my elbow when exercising. and afterward for about 5 minutes when i flex. its only my right arm. Any ideas? o.o I'm lost. Right arm is dominant by the way.

How can I make my shoulder more well developed and flexible for tennis? I would like to make my shoulders more well developed and specifically more flexible for tennis. I am wanting this to contribute to increasing the height of my elbow on my racquet drop in my serve. What are some exercises and stretches that will accomplish this? Also, Pete Sampras' shoulder was supposedly more well developed than most pitchers', and he could touch his elbows together behind his back. Sampras was obviously an amazing natural athlete, but is this sort of flexibility impossible to reach for most people?
Pain in lower arm and it hurts when I move my fingers.? I'm going to the doctors tomorrow but does anyone know what this might be? Five weeks ago my doctor said I had tennis elbow, I saw another doctor two weeks later and she said it wasn't tennis elbow, but didn't say what she thought it might be. I've been resting my arm and doing gentle exercises etc., but now, the elbow is still slightly swollen and I have really bad pain down my lower arm. I can't straighten my fingers nor can I clench my fist. Just moving my fingers can hurt. I can't put any pressure on my hand, however lightly I do it, even washing my hands hurts. All the above causes sharp pain through my lower arm. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Also I can't move my wrist upwards, only down. I'm pretty sure it isn't a traped nerve because I know what they feel like, and this doesn't feel like a trapped nerve to me.
How do I increase flexibility for tennis? I wanted to increase shoulder, elbow and wrist flexibility. I was told swimming would do this, and was wondering if their are any other exercises I can do in my home.
What is your oppion of your doctor giving you Prevenative Medicine? Everytime I go to the doctors with an injury of a sprain or strain he gives me prevenative medicine such as exercises and Ice or hot packs and things for me to wear such as a sleave for tennis elbow. Orthopedic HELP NEEDED! Please tell me what this can be so I can bring it up to my ignorant doctor? I have been suffering from tendinitis and tennis elbow of the forearms and elbows for over 3 years off and on, but mostly on. Everything I do to heal it seems to be only a temporary fix and it always returns, always...I've done physical therapy, cortisone injections, surgery, rest from work, you name it. I even paid some shmuck $35.00 online for information on how to heal it but it was only illustrations of the exercises that I already do at therapy. My elbows also hurt INSIDE the joint. I am totally beside myself and need help. I have asked for an MRI to hopefully reveal the problem but have gotten denied. I am in the process of trying to find a doctor that will approve one, but doesn anyone know what this is? I am willing to do anything to permanently cure this condition. I believe that there is a solution for everything and that it only needs to be found. Someone out there must know what is wrong with me or have somewhat of an idea so that I can research it further. Help! This is a workers comp injury from 2004 and it is difficult to find a doctor that will take it. I know you are going to tell me to just find a new doctor but it isn't that easy. I just want to know what this could be so I can bring it up to my present doctor.
pressing movements for my shoulders? i have tennis elbow and asked about what exercises to do whilst recovering. i have been told to do pressing movements for my shoulders, can you tell me some exercises for that?
Advice on building arms? I am been lifting for years. During my time I have developed a great chest and broad shoulders. However, I have had problems with my arms. When I try to go heavy, I end up injuring myself, (naming tennis elbow). My biceps exercise consists of preacher curls, dumbbell curls and hammer curls. My triceps exercises consist of standing cable press downs, seated triceps extensions, and triceps kickbacks. I am not looking a gaining much weight, because I am already close to my weight limit in the Army. Can someone give me advice?
Elbow pain when pressing? I have a nagging bit of elbow pain that is only prevalent when doing a pressing exercise. About 2 weeks ago I did some heavy bench presses with pins set about 6" above my chest - thus working the top portion of the lift. Since then, doing bench press with any reasonable weight is excrutiating. It's getting better, but still painful. The elbow has no redness or swelling and is not sore to the touch, but when pressing, it ACHES to the point where I feel weak and have to stop lifting. I'm fairly certain it's neither tennis nor golfers elbow, but am confused as it's a pretty complicated joint. Any ideas?? Also, pulling exercises (rows, deadlifts) also aggravate it, though not to the same extent. The pain is only felt when the bar is closer than 5-6 inches to the chest.. both down and up
When should ultraviolet/laser etc be used for Injury/sprain? If something like Tennis elbow does not go despite resting and mild exercise, should radiation be used?

My Wrist Feel Sore. I'm A Guitarist? Hey since around Aug 20th I've had a pain in my right elbow kind of similar to the tennis elbow. I did some exercises with hand master plus and some stretches and it went away for a couple days but then later my wrist started feeling a little numb and itchy and the pain came back a bit. I play guitar a lot. I'm talking about quite a few hours a day so this is getting frustrating. I'm only 18 so what could it probably be?

Who likes this one? A man hurts his elbow & goes to the dr. When the nurse takes him to the room, she hands him a cup & tells him that they need a urine sample. "A urine sample?" the man asks, "For what, I hurt my elbow?" The nurse replies, "We have a new machine that can diagnose anything by a urine sample." So, the man pees in the cup & hands it to the nurse. The dr comes in and tells him he has the worst case of tennis elbow he has ever seen, gives him some exercises & to come back in two weeks with another sample. So, the guy goes homes & thinks "I'm really gonna get this dr" so he pees in it, has his wife pee in it, his daughter, his dog, puts some crankcase oil from the car & j**** off & puts that in there. When he gets back to the dr, he hands it over & waits. The doc walks in a few minutes later & says, "Alright smartass, your wife's got VD, your daughter's pregnant, your dog's got rabies, your car's about to throw a rod and if you don't quit j***ing off that tennis elbow's never going to heal!"
I'm at my wits end. Help me ? I have been having wrist pain for years now and im only 19 y/o. My doc diagnosed me with a torn ligament in my wirst 4 years ago, but i went to a hand specialist and he couldnt find anything wrong. So he ordered a mri, xray, nerve conduction test, emg, and mri with fluoroscopy. All tests normal. But now i am having pain in my forearm, my other doc said its tennis elbow. I am going to physical therapy now. But that seems to be making it worse. My p.t said i have an extremely tight tendon in my wrist and tight muscles in my forearm near my elbow. She massaged that for a while and gave me some exercises to do. This was last monday. Since then i have been waking up i excruciating pain in my elbow, where i cannot move it or make a fist. The top of my hand, thumb and wrist is very sore and weak. It almost feels stiff. Sometimes i have burning and throbbing sensation. The pain is radiating into my fingers and on the palm of my hand at the base of the thumb. Im not sure what to do. I cannot sleep cuz the pain is incredible. I am really fed up with this. What can I do?? Should I see another hand surgeon?? I have had 2 cortizone shots and those did nothing. I have also had 3 casts on my wrist. I am very upset. And all this typing does not help. Could someone please help me?? Writing, typing, and gripping aggravate it, but lately ive been have pain at rest.... Please help... Thank you so much i have thought about amputation.. lol
Whatever is that in your shorts? While out jogging in the park, a young chap finds a brand new tennis ball. Seeing nobody around to claim it, he slips it into the pocket of his shorts and continues on. A few yards from home, he reaches a pedestrian crossing. Waiting for the traffic to stop, a young lady standing next to him can't help but notice the considerable bulge in his shorts. "Oh my," she gasps, "whatever is THAT in your shorts?" "Tennis ball," replies the young man, still breathless from exercise. "Oh poor you," sympathises the woman, "I once had tennis elbow." <><><> Barely 20 minutes after teeing off, a woman stumbles into the golf course clubhouse, grimacing in pain. "What happened?" the club pro asks. "I got stung by a bee," she replies. "Where?" "Between the first and second holes." "Hmmm," murmurs the pro. "Sounds like your stance was a little too wide." <><><>
I have shoulder pain and have been diagnosed with triceps tendonitis, is the correct diagnosis? When I search on the web, I find triceps tendonitis defined as the lower part of the triceps. My pain is in the back of my shoulder and hurts when I extend my arm. When I am tested for strenght in the rotator cuff, the rotator cuff is strong. My doctor said my condition is common in golfers, and I am avid golfer. He said it is the golfer's shoulder equivalent to tennis elbow. Has anyone had this or heard of this before? What rehab or prevantive exercises can I do? Thank you. When I search on the web, I find triceps tendonitis defined as the lower part of the triceps. I have a low handicap and have rather solid mechanics according to my pro. The affected shoulder is not my lead shoulder, it is my right shoulder (non throwing) for my right handed golf swing. Thanks again
Back pain and vicodin? I have had bad lower back pain for about a year now and the doc has done xrays and urine tests and says nothing out of line? I ALSO have Tennis elbow, which really hurts! Have been on Vicodin 2/day, sometimes I need 3 or 4 and then i have to suffer other days because I am short on my script. I usually get them refilled every month with just a phone call. Now after a few months not seeing him, he wants a physical before he fills anymore. When I see him, should i tell him I need more than 2/day? Last time I seen him, he refered me to pysical therapy, but I cant afford that and dont have the time during the week to go. I have a freind whom is a massage therapist and gives me massages once a month to help, but that is temporary. I have been exercising/strength training both my back and elbow, but my job consist of manual labor and I need to work. The vics are what keep me working without pain. Also what if he insist on therapy? What do you think he will do for me? Up my script, or cut me off, or refer me elsewhere. NOTE this is my lifelong reg. DO. How long does a general doc keep prescribing narcotics. Some that replied state that they took for year and a half for back pain..How long till its normal to up the dosage. Ive been on 7mg for about 7mos or so.
I am 31, in the prime of my life, and have had Psoriatic Arthritis for 5 years.? I am also a a tennis pro, but the arthritis is getting to the point that even teaching is becoming difficult with swollen joints in my elbow in my playing arm, my ankle and in all of my metatarsals in my feet. I can no longer play tennis anything like I used to and lose matches to people I should easily beat. I've tried Glucosamine, Omega 3, I exercise regularly and commute on my bicycle every day, but I am still in pain despite taking 12-16 hundred milligrams of ibuprophen every day. AM I kidding myself in thinking that things will get better and I can persue my career path, or should I cut my losses and move on?

I don't like exercise. But I can feel that I need it. What can I do? I have tons of great, productive hobbies that I really enjoy, but they all involve sitting... playing piano, graphic design, prayer, TV, taking drives, etc. I'd just as soon be doing one of those during all my free time. But my body is starting to ache for no reason, I'm always tired, and I'm starting to have trouble sleeping. I need exercise! But I don't really enjoy it and I have a really hard time making time for it. Mornings are basically out because I attend 7 a.m. Mass before work when I can drag myself out of bed for it. And I go to bed too late already. I do like riding my bike, but 1) it doesn't feel like it's exercising enough muscles, and 2) I've been avoiding it because it hurts my arms (tennis/golfer's elbow). How can I get some exercise into my day, without buying any expensive equipment, and keep doing it past the first two forced weeks?
Forearms hurt from lifting? Alright, i'm 14 years old in high school. and i have lifted before with my brother when i was 13 but i barely got any results cause i didnt eat enough and wasn getting enough protein and would skip days, etc. so anyway, during the summer, i went to lift for one day. and i didn't feel like i was over working myself, but the day after my upper forearm started hurting. like right at your elbow area. if you put your arm out straight, palms down, your forearm muscle will stick out, and thats where it hurt. so i had to keep my arms at a 90 degree angle for like 3 days cause it hurt to put them down. my brother said i hyper extended and thats why it hurt. and it was something called "tennis player's elbow" or something like that. so i started lifting again 4 days ago, seriouslym like i know all about protein after wokrouts and form and all that. and the same spot hurts again. not nearly as much as it did months ago, but when i extend my arms down, i feel a pull in my upper forearm. what is it?!? i stretch between exercises, i stretch and warm up before, and cool down afterwards. and i feel fine right after. when i went with my brother when i was 13, i went for like a month and a half and i didnt feel any pain at all. wtf is up?!
I've got red bumps on my arms after exercising.? When I did marching and now when I play tennis, I get these red groups of bumps on my arms that looks like hives or a break out of something. Just a bunch of red bumps in clusters from the top of my hand to my elbows. Is it heat rash or something else? And how can I cure it because it happens whenever I'm out playing in the sun and it itches really bad. Thank you all in advance!
