Balance Physical Therapy

What is the best career to go for, holistic / complimentary therapy or physiotherapy?

I have always been interested in mind body and soul but I was just wondering what the difference between physiotherapy and complimentary therapy? Also what about income? Also have you ever had treatments from holistic therapy or physiotherapy? Are you a physiotherapist / holistic therapist? What are your experiences?

  1. You can offer many different disciplines to patients. As far as treatment options go, as a patient, I would choose physiotherapy last because it's not as effective as laser, scenar, acupuncture, homeopathy, chiropractic, not necessarily in that order. Physiotherapy is "old school". If you're good at what you do and have a sincere interest in healing people, the income will look after itself. If you're in it for the money and you're incompetent, you'll be pooched when people don't come back or refer their friends. Word gets around.
  2. What's best? Check a job site. See those jobs advertised for physiotherapists? Good. See those jobs advertised for acupuncturists, homeopaths etc? No, me neither. The reality is that physiotherapists are employed by hospitals to help patients make a recovery. Nearly all the others have to make do with self-employment, basically because most of comp therapy is a hoax. If you're a skilled hoaxer, you can con people out of a lot of money, which doesn't really sound like 'helping' people does it? Stick with an occupation that is well regarded, has lots of credible courses taught at proper colleges and universities, and ignore the dubious and shady alt med scams out there.
